Pre-Assessment: Healthy Breakfast Options: Teens Exercise their Options for Breakfast Nutrition

Young people, especially teens, need to exercise their decision options to eat a healthy breakfast each day with foods from a diversity of food groups. This video is part of a nutrition lesson for middle school students from Dairy Council of California called Exercise Your Options (More information and materials at http://www.healthyeating.org/EYO). Watch as five teens start their day with a range of healthy (or not healthy) food options for breakfast nutrition. Issues discussed include making healthy choices for food and exercise, as well as what to do if your kitchen isn’t properly stocked or you’re pressed for time. In addition, the video touches on the issue of celebrity advertising and endorsement of food products as well as whether it’s a good idea to skip meals, follow fad diets, or exercise even if one isn’t overweight.
